A Brief Conversation with Silver Warehouse

I was fortunate enough to virtually talk with Silver Warehouse. The alternative rock band out of North Dakota had this to say.
Tell us a little bit of background about Silver Warehouse
The band formed at the University of North Dakota back in September of 2018. The five of us (Cam, Dylan, Austin, Sam, and Cal) met and very luckily discovered that we clicked when playing music together. We would sneak into the music department's building anywhere from 2-5 A.M. and use their equipment to practice (because we couldn't play rock music in the dorms obviously).
How did the name come about?
Cam and Dylan were roommates, and would "borrow" silverware from the dining room on campus and stick it in their dorm room's ceiling. One day, while sitting in our room thinking of band names, cam said "this is the silverware house", and Dylan was like "silver...warehouse" and we went with it.
Best gig?
Our best gig was at this place called the Row House in Minneapolis. It's run by some of dudes on the University of Minnesota's rowing team, and they would have multiple bands come play on the weekends. It was a small basement with enough room for a band and 50 people, but when we played there were definitely at least 80 people. It was very intimate and everyone was going crazy and having a blast!
Was there any marketing intention with self-titling your breakout single?
Believe it or not, there is zero marketing strategy behind naming our single "Silver Warehouse". Simply put, being our first song and complete rookies to the music industry, someone messed up while uploading the song. It was meant to be titled "peace signs".
What has been the biggest obstacle the band has experienced?
The biggest obstacle we have experienced as a band would definitely be covid, as i assume a lot of bands these days would also say. We were just getting ready to start playing live shows as much as possible, with multiple gigs lined up, when the pandemic really took a turn for the worst.
Where does the band see itself in 5 years?
We're hoping the pandemic is over and we can play for our fans again. We have a goal to play at Lollapalooza in Chicago some day. Our band group chat is even named "Lolla 2023" (although that was created prior to the pandemic, so might have to push back our dream a bit). Maybe you'll see us on the lineup for that in five years! I think we'll have developed our sound a lot more by then, and will have better and better music being released over time.
