Shameless James : Rocking around Athens

If you've ever found yourself in a local Athens bar or venue on a weekend night, you might have heard combinations of both overdriven and light drums, guitar, bass, and voices. You might have been confused, even amazed by the variation. You might have been listening to Shameless James.

One of Athens' hottest Psychedelic Rock bands, Shameless James is becoming more and more of a staple in the city's music scene. This four-man band consists of Mackenzie Brown, Zac Connely, Dallas Wiggins, and Zach Tellano. Their description of the band's style includes "blending elements of southern rock, alternative rock, jam, and psychedelia." This illustration could not be more accurate. With slightly slower songs such as "Pick Me Up", and more upbeat ones like "Fat One", Shameless James covers the entire spectrum of speed and volume.

The band has been performing live shows for quite a while now, but just recently became available on streaming services such as Spotify. Their discography includes three singles, as well as their most recent release of an EP titled, "Calico." This 6-song EP kicks off with a strong and powerful guitar alongside the accompaniment of a strong and powerful bass-line. This energy is kept up throughout most of the EP, with small dips in intensity with songs such as "Death of Me". Incredible guitar solos and drum fills are included throughout the entire work and overall, the collection of songs is a solid one. My recommendation from the project and personal favorite was "Crazy".
