Never has the term "tasty licks" been so fitting. The Family Recipe, a local instrumental band out of Athens, has been spicing up the music scene.
If you haven't noticed, there's going to be a lot of puns in this.
This 5-man band consists of Nathan Hallman on guitar, Will Ruff on electric mandolin, Jacob Selvaggi on saxophone, Quentin Smith on bass, and Josh Siar on drums. With this wildly unique combination of instruments, comes an even more unique sound. The band describes itself as an "instrumental fusion band drawing inspiration from jazz, rock, and funk."
The group's first public release came through the popular streaming service, Bandcamp. This August of 2018 release was an album titled, "Mushroom for Improvement." At least I'm not the only one realizing this potential for puns. After this album came a couple more singles, including a 2020 EP titled, "Roads." The band has plans for a 2021 release of their EP, "Idle High" as well. Of course with COVID-19 many of their shows have been either postponed or canceled, but according to their website, the group should be quite busy once the world goes back to normal. Until then, you can find most of their music on services such as Spotify and Soundcloud!
Linked below is their Instagram, as well as their website.
